Located in San Diego, California, Emaki is a family owned Custom Tattoo Shop that was founded in 2023. Since its conception, the main purpose was to provide the best quality tattoos in an inclusive, friendly and comfortable environment. Emaki is currently home to 7 resident artists and 2 resident guest artists, all of whom specialize in their own unique artistic styles. We strive to provide a positive tattooing experience for those who are starting their tattoo journey and for life long collectors. Tattoos are our passion and we love to share it with everyone that comes through our doors.
If you're wondering what Emaki means, it’s short for “Emakimono”, Japanese illustrated narrative picture scrolls. They flourished as an art form, depicting battles, romance, religion, folktales and even stories of the supernatural world.
When we think of tattoo art, we always connect art with stories, memories and emotions, so it felt only fitting to name our little home away from home, Emaki Art Collective, although we also call it Emaki Tattoo (to keep it short).
